Sledding at Wagon Hill

On Thursday we went sledding over at Wagon Hill Farm in Durham.  It was my first time there.  The kids had a great time.  The weather was picture perfect - sunny and warm - a great way to spend an afternoon on school vacation.

The hill.

Back up and the down again...

That figure in the middle (way down there) is Ben!

Bringing those sleds back up the hill.

Being pushed by George.  (His contribution!)

Enjoying the day!

Photo Op on the wagon!

Almost ready to go home.

A fun time was had by all!

Vacation Fun!

Since I am home on vacation with the boys, I thought I would try my hand at blogging.  After a day of cleaning and home maintenance on Monday, we had a busy day on Tuesday with Jacob attending a 2-hour hockey skills session, bowling with grandma and grandpa and George and friends attending the Monarchs game.  Here are some of the highlights:

Ben readies himself for the first frame of the day.

Jacob takes up the challenge.

George prepares to put up the high score of the day (104).

Both Grandma and Grandpa were slightly inured while bowling, with a hamstring and biceps pull, nothing serious but they did use the injuries as excuses for their poor scoring on the day.  Here they are before the injuries:

The Monarchs game was exciting, with the visiting Providence Bruins (with former UNH players Colin Hemingway and Kevin Regan (although he did not play)) tying the game up in the final seconds and the Monarchs winning in a shootout.  Perhaps more exciting for the crew was arriving at Strange Brew (with about 50 beers on tap) to find it was $2 pint and half price appetizer night!  Here is a picture of the gang enjoying the game from the luxury box (thanks dad), which holds 12 but we had to ourselves.

Lastly, for some reason the crowd just loves these crazy characters who come out and dance around in-between periods.

So, it was an eventful and fun day.  We should have more fun to report on in the next few days as Jackie will be home with us and we plan to head to wagon hill in Durham for some sliding and the museum of science in Boston (with dinner at the Boston Beerworks of course).  Stay tuned.

Monday Night Madness!

We had a little Snow family dance party last night (after homework and dinner).  The kids definitely have better moves than their Mom and Dad.

Jacob and Ben on guitar.

Strutting their stuff.

Rock on Ben!

Jacob - crazy rocker!

George's moves and his contribution!  (Notice the NY City Subway
sign for Yankee Stadium - I gave that to George for Valentine's Day!)

Play it Ben!

That's all I got!

Some Random Thoughts

Some random pictures from the week:

George is starting to enjoy wine.

Benny and I working on Valentine's for his class party.
This task took a lot of concentration.

Benny has enjoyed playing with Jacob's old magician's kit.

Ben's best trick was having this gift bag appear in the bird cage.

George sent roses to my office for Valentine's Day!  What a guy!
I managed to get them home without destroying them.

The Week in Review

Here's the rundown on what has been going on in the Snow household this week:

Super Bowl Sunday - The game was a little too exciting for me.  I had to leave the room several times and actually decided not to watch the last two minutes.  I was upstairs putting laundry away and could hear George yelling from the family room.  I finally had to turn on the TV in our bedroom and saw that the Steelers were in scoring position.  I then went downstairs to watch the end of the game and cheer the Steelers onto victory.  George dressed appropriately for the game.

Monday = School Bus Drama -   On Monday morning, I found out that Jacob had been punched in the face on the bus ride home from school on Friday.  The parent of the boy who hit Jacob asked me if I had heard about Friday.  Jacob had not said anything so I did not know what was going on.  The parent explained what had happened.  So then we all tried to reconstruct what took place, who said what, who did what, etc.    Drama!

Later that day I got a call from the school and it was Ben's teacher.  Apparently he also had a tough bus ride to school and was not being nice to another kindergartner on the bus.  The other student was upset and Ben was calling him names.  So later that day we talked to Ben about being nice to his friends and not making fun of people.  Monday was a very eventful day for parenting at the Snow house!  I guess when it rains, it pours.  And these kids are still young.  What will happen when they are teens?

Tuesday was drama free but Benjamin was complaining that his throat hurt.

Rest of Week & Sick Kids - The kids were sick for the rest of the week.  Benny was out of school on Wednesday and Thursday.  Jacob was out on Thursday.  The poor kids were worn out and slept during the day and even slept-in late in the morning (past 5:30 am!).

Today - We are back on schedule today and the kids are feeling better.  Their interest in playing video games is a sure sign of their well-being.  Jacob was trying out the Wii Fit so I decided to give it a shot.  I subjected myself to the "Body Test" and once again found out that I am overweight, can't balance, and have a Wii fit age of 44!  I knew there was a reason why I did not like video games!
